Identify a suitable level/flat testing site where you will set up the VSAT that maximizes its visibility to the sky across as much of the Az-El range as possible.
Note: Kepler satellites fly in low-Earth orbits and thus sites that have good visibility to just the geostationary satellite arc are insufficient. i.e. (only) good southerly views in the northern hemisphere and vice versa.
Take a series of photographs of your site location to capture the entire 360° view of the antenna. Kepler recommends using a camera app such as Theodolite for iOS or Dioptra for Android to overlay az-el information. Example photos are provided below with poor visibility due to building blockage at modest elevation angles. Ideally, you should have a clear view above 15° in all directions.
